What is it?
“Talk It Out, Work It Out” is an in-person, multi-session group series combining psychoeducation and physical activity for improved mental, physical, and social wellbeing. Targeting seniors, this initiative is in collaboration with the Mental Health and Physical Activity Research Centre at the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education (KPE) and our community partners.
How does it work?
The recurring 6-8 week dual-focused program runs for a total of one and a half hours once a week, with 40 minutes allocated to a group discussion facilitated by Talk It Out’s Master of Social Work students around topics of mental health followed by a 40-minute physical activity circuit led by students from KPE. The current program runs at the Jane and Finch Community Centre and Kimel Family Centre for Brain Health and Wellness at Baycrest Health Sciences.
